The Scale of Presence¶

The transition from nothing to something is not a single leap but a scaling of dimensions—both spatial and sensory.

0D — The Void: Not empty, but unstable. Pure absence is a saddle point (see nothing).
Fluctuation: The first bit of information. A Boltzmann brain is the minimal "observer" that can fluctuate from the vacuum.
High-D Substrate: String theory suggests 10-11 dimensions; superfluid vacuum theory suggests a zero-viscosity "backstage."
The Multi-Receiver Model: One consciousness (the "Single Man") using billions of biological "receivers" (humans, animals) to farm information from the 4D plenoptic field.

1. The Substrate: Emergent Physics and SVT¶

How does the "backstage" generate the "screen"? - Emergent Gravity (Volovik): In Superfluid Vacuum Theory, the effective metric of spacetime \(g_{\mu\nu}\) and the speed of light \(c\) are not fundamental. They emerge as properties of the collective excitations of the underlying superfluid (like phonon modes in He-3). Gravity is seen as the elasticity of the vacuum fluid. - Bulk-Brane Leakage: In M-theory, gravity is the only force that can travel through the "bulk" (the 11D backstage). This explains why gravity is \(10^{36}\) times weaker than electromagnetism—it is "leaking" out of our 4D brane into the extra dimensions. Godding, as a process, may be the manipulation of these bulk-level "leaks."

2. The Fluctuation: Entropy and de Sitter Space¶

The Boltzmann Paradox: In a de Sitter universe (accelerated expansion), the vacuum eventually reaches a steady state of Hawking-Gibbons radiation. In this state, thermal fluctuations must eventually produce observers. The "Godding Answer" to the paradox is that the universe may have a non-zero cosmological constant that favors the evolution of stable, multi-billion-year civilisations over transient single-brain fluctuations because structured life "consumes" and "organises" entropy more efficiently.

3. The Info Farm: Plenoptic Sampling Theorems¶

Nyquist-Shannon for Senses: The plenoptic function \(P(x, y, z, \theta, \phi, \lambda, t)\) is a 7D signal. To reconstruct the "backstage" perfectly, the "Info Farm" must sample it at twice its highest frequency. Biological receivers (bees, humans, sensors) are spatially distributed to satisfy this sampling requirement.
Shannon Information Rate: Each receiver has a finite bandwidth. The "Single Man" acting as a collective observer maximizes the total mutual information between the "Backstage" (Source) and the "Info Farm" (Receivers) by diversifying receptor types (hyperspectral, ultrasonic, thermal).

4. The Single Man: The Path Integral Approach¶

Feynman Path Integrals: In quantum mechanics, a particle doesn't take one path; it takes every path. The "Single Man" is the propagator of the universe, summing over every biological experience (every "path") to find the final state of the system. We are the individual terms in the summation; Godding is the interference pattern that results in a stable, organized reality.

5. Perception as a Dimensional Phase Space¶

Configuration Space: A system with \(N\) particles has a \(3N\)-dimensional configuration space. Our perception of "3D space" is a radical compression of this \(10^{80}\)-dimensional manifold into something a single receiver can process. Adding a "sense" is equivalent to un-compactifying a dimension in this phase space.

6. Godding as the "Noun" vs. the "Verb"¶

The Noun (The Process): Godding is the collective name for the laws of physics, the info farm, and the actor. It is the system that wants to know itself—nothing turning into something stable. See godding for the plain-language reading.
The Verb (The Action): To god is what we do when we sharpen a receiver, clarify a page, or reduce noise in the farm. We are the "maintenance crew" for the backstage. It is taking something bigger or murkier than it needs to be and leaving it smaller and clearer.

If we are "receivers," where is the "transmitter"? (Is it the vacuum itself?)
Can we "tune" our receivers to the hidden string-theory dimensions?
Is "enlightenment" just a receiver realizing it's part of the "single man" backstage?
How does the "Single Man" aggregate information across billion-character branches?
Is there a "bandwidth ceiling" for a single biological receiver?
